Sheep and goat milk nutrition: adding value simply.
The sheep and goat milk industries are based on the consumer perception these milks are easier to digest, however what this actually means for consumers and how this differs from other milks is unclear and requires considerable research investment to understand. A quicker, less expensive approach is for companies to develop propositions based on the extensive list of approved nutrition and health claims. In this project, we identified several potential value propositions for New Zealand sheep milk and goat milks for companies to use for different products and market segments.
This work was part of a much larger project where we looked at export opportunities for the New Zealand sheep and goat milk industries. A Provincial Growth Fund project, our work involved a range of tasks, including an in-depth assessment of six dairy categories in five priority export markets to determine where and how New Zealand could win, and the potential economic impact for New Zealand. This work has served as justification for new industry investment.
